Symbolism

Well hello everyone, I want to talk about Symbolism. since my website is based on 2 symbols I thought I would share some of the information and knowledge I have about the many different symbols in our world.a pentagram

Well, we all know there are many different types of symbols that hold a lot of power they show up in every culture and religion.  Some symbols strike fear into people’s hearts, many symbols show faith and protection.  there are many other symbols with different meanings.

I know education is the key to everything, so instead of assuming or prejudging something you don’t know anything about taking some time to research the origins and true meaning behind it.  I myself have come across many people thru out my life that looks at a picture or an item that has some kind of symbol on it and automatically think something negative or assume its bad before they know anything about it.

I have had and known numerous people over the years from different countries and cultures with a lot of history so whenever I saw something unique and different I would ask about it out of pure curiosity. I was usually pleasantly surprised by what I found out.

A symbol is a mark, sign or word that indicates, signifies, or is understood as representing an idea, object, or relationship. Symbols allow people to go beyond what is known or seen by creating linkages between otherwise very different concepts and experiences.

That is the actual definition of what a symbol is but when you are dealing with mystical symbols or religious symbols it takes on a different meaning.  Here are some pics of symbols and some of their meanings. Egypt has lots of deep history in it and has many symbols, language, and hieroglyphics, which we are usually always intrigued and curious about. the egyptian ankhtriquertra this symbol special to me cause I love the moon and it stands for the 3 phases of the full moon and all the stuff in the pic. it is an ancient symbol.hamsa for the longest time, I saw this and wondered what it was and what it was for cause I saw it everywhere but it actually has ties to the middle east and north Africa.many paths .as you can tell there are many cultures and religions here they all believe in a supreme being but some people judge each one based on the symbol or spiritual path that you choose.

Thank You for taking the time to read and listen to what I said.  Hope you enjoyed it.

The Pentacle: is the single most powerful symbol.

The Pentacle:

A Pentacle is the single most powerful symbol of the ancients. It traverses many religions and is often misinterpreted as a dark symbol and harbinger of dark magic. Do not be misled by this misinterpretation, and although I could go on and on about its significance and importance, you only need to know 5 good reasons for wearing one:

THE PENTACLE SHOWS YOUR LOVE FOR NATURE

The Pentacle is the best representation of Nature. The Four elements of Nature: Earth (lower left point), Air (upper left point), Fire (lower right point) and Water (upper right point), are best represented by the points of the Pentacle. And the fifth point pointing upwards is the quintessential fifth element of nature, which is the Divine Spirit.

IT REPRESENTS THE NUMBER 5

The number 5, is very mystical and magical, and essentially human. We have 5 fingers and toes. We have five senses – sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste. the 5 stages in our lives – birth, adolescence, coitus, parenthood and death. In Christianity, 5 was the number of the wounds of Christ nailed on the cross. In the Muslim faith, there are five pillars and five daily prayers.

IT ENHANCES YOUR ABILITIES

Your Pentacle can be worn as a talisman or amulet. When carved from wood, your pentacle is linked to nature and the natural world. When made from gold, it gives off mental clarity, energy and wisdom. And, when forged from silver, your link to the Moon and Psychic energies are at its strongest.

The symbol represents your protection

from negative, evil energies and against attacks from spirits and demons. It also allows you to conjure, command and control those forces which may harm you. The Circle which encloses it, being without beginning or ending, represents infinity and eternity.

The pentagram is a five-pointed star sacred to many Pagans and Wiccans, and within this magical symbol you’ll find a number of different meanings. Think about the very concept of a star — it is a source of light, blazing in the darkness. It is something physically very far away from us, and yet how many of us have wished upon one when we saw it up in the sky? The star itself is magical.

now a pentacle as you know is a pentagram with a circle around it, which we have discussed before on its meaning so I will be talking about both in this article. What has a beginning and an end at the same time? a circle, the circle has many meanings but when it comes to a pentacle it is a beginning and an end, protection within, unity, and infinity.

The ancient symbol of the pentagram

is often feared and widely misunderstood. From the Greek word “pente”, meaning five and “gramma”, meaning letter, the pentagram is a triple triangle that forms an interior pentagon. This simple, five-pointed star has a rich and varied history. Used by ancient Chinese and Japanese religions to symbolize the five elements of life – fire, earth, metal, water and wood- the pentagram was believed to contain magical properties. Early Christians used the pentagram to represent the Star of Bethlehem. As time went on, this mystical representation of harmony, peace and health evolved into a symbol of Satan worship.

The earliest use of the pentagram dates back to 3500 BC. The Chaldees of Mesopotamia inscribed the symbol on there pottery and other artifacts. The Hebrews used the pentagram as a symbol of truth and to represent the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Hebrew Scriptures. The Pythagoreans of ancient Greece were fascinated by the mathematical purity of the symbol and viewed it as a sign of perfection. Ancient Babylonians used the pentagram to represent the gods and religious beliefs of there culture

There are still many groups that use the pentagram as a symbol of harmony and spirituality. The temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are adorned with the pentagram. The symbol of the pentagram is also used in many Wiccan ceremonies. Wiccans see the star as symbolizing the four elements of air, water, earth and fire, which are perfectly balanced to create the fifth element of spirit. The pentagram ring is a popular talisman worn by Wiccans and other Pagans. This star of life is often the main feature on there altars and is a widely used ritual tool, often representing feminine energy.

This sacred symbol continues to maintain its ancient mystical attributes and is a powerful tool for all who draw from it.

Pentacles in tarot

there is a lot of people that might not know about tarot cards or just what society and movies have deemed it as. Actually, in tarot they are represented as coins. they are associated with matters of security, stability and wealth. It’s also connected to the element of earth, and subsequently, the direction of North. This suit is where you’ll find cards that relate to job security, educational growth, investments, home, money and wealth.

there is 10 cards in each suit of cards, that is 1 or ace to 10 then there is for more prominent cards after that. So you can see that it has a deep and lengthy meaning a history in tarot. Each number or prominent card has a different meaning and also how it shows up in the reading. Every card has a meaning in tarot and they all have a positive meaning you just have to know how to interpret it right.

conclusion

so as you can tell like many other symbols it has a lot of history and different meanings. Many cultures and religions have used these mystical symbols for a variety of reasons so before you shun something or be apprehensive about something you see why don’t you look more into it and you might just learn something. For thousands of years we have had many magical and mystical things all around us hidden in plain sight, but once you open your mind and start seeing them for what they truly are then more will be shown to you. Our universe is so amazing and forever changing so find something new to learn about each day and open your mind to something new .

Pentagram : Not to be feared but to understand it.

I would like to talk about the meaning of Pentagrams:

The Elements, The Origins, A Symbol of protection.

The Elements:
Those are the same elements we have here on earth that we know of already. We have Air, Water, Fire, and Earth. The 5th element is associated with the Pentacle and the Pentagram is called The Divine Spirit, which is the supreme being, I know it goes under many names, regarding each religion, and the most common word used is God. Whichever you choose to use it all means our higher power.
So, you take all the earth elements and the divine spirit and it creates a pentagram. The ultimate power to protect us is our Supreme Being. We are all connected to this planet why do you think its called, Mother Earth.

elements

The Origins :
It is a 5 pointed star, sometimes with a circle around it, which is called a Pentacle. It is one of the oldest symbols in the world. It dates back some 8000 years and every religion has used it at one time, also it is being used on 2 flags of different countries, and built into many churches and bldgs as a symbol of the divine spirit.
Throughout time it has been used by Wiccans and pagans as a universal symbol for their philosophy and religion and Satanists have distorted its design and the history of it and used it in evil practices and philosophy.
Was first discovered but an astronomical researcher named Tigris-Euphrates in 6000 B.C.E. later it was found and used by the Sumerian scholars believed that it represented the 4 corners of earth and the” vault to heaven” or the 5 visible planets in the night sky: Jupiter, Mercury, Mars, Saturn, and Venus( with Venus a representative Queen of Heaven.) It was a theory that they had but since it was such an ancient theory there is no concrete evidence behind it
It has also been know as the human pentagram, for when we stand straight up with our legs apart and our arms stretched out, we have all 5 points of the pentagram, our head, our 2 arms, and our 2 legs.
By the mid-nineteenth century, further discovery had developed amongst occultists regarding the pentagram’s orientation. With a single point upwards, it depicted spirit presiding over the four elements of matter, and was essentially “good”. I have discovered that the true intention of that person who uses the pentagram is the deciding factor.

A symbol of Protection and unity:

The pentagram symbol was used in ancient times but the Christians as a symbol of the five senses or “5 wounds of Christ”. In the 14 th century a poem Sir Gawain, the symbol was on his shield. the symbol’s origin was said it represented King Solomon and explains that each of the five interconnected points represents a virtue tied to a group of five, the five senses, five fingers, takes courage from the five joys that Mary had of Jesus, and exemplifies the five virtues of knighthood. With all this, it’s not hard to see why it was a symbol of protection and to fight off evil.

In eastern Asian symbolism, WU XING symbolizes the 5 elements of Chinese tradition ( medicine, acupuncture, feng shui, and Taoism). the picture above is of the greek elements.

Greek elements
In ancient Babylonian times, the use of the pentagram was used as an apotropaic, which is a charm to protect from evil.
I believe in a person’s true intention in anything they do no matter what it is, can be good or evil. I also believe that a solid education and constant learning in things that you don’t know much one is better than just assuming it’s bad or evil.
I have been wearing the pentagram and the pentacle on me for years and have it throughout my house and no evil has ever touched me. in other religions and philosophies if there is always a protection symbol with a history of good and bad, based on different stories being told.

The Pentagram is a symbol for spiritual shielding and ethereal world intelligence. In fact, it makes the bad spirits and other negative elements powerless when faced with this symbol while on the other hand, drawing the good spirits. Those who have this symbol have infinite possibilities at their disposal, meaning you may choose to use or not to use this symbol.
both the Pentagram and the Pentacle are two of the most powerful symbols in the world of Magic and can be used for protection as nothing can compete with the absolute protection that these symbols can give you. You may use them for keeping negative energy away.
